Volunteers in Prince George's County began handing out fresh food as early as 10:00 a.m. yesterday at Thurgood Marshall Middle School due to high demand for the District 8 Healthy Families Program (launched by Council Chair Edward Burroughs III). The program will provide drive-thru pickups twice a month to serve about 1,000 families facing food insecurity.
An ICE official told a Maryland federal court on Thursday that Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an El Salvador native charged with human smuggling after a Tennessee traffic stop, could be deported to Mexico or South Sudan if released—while his lawyers requested that he be sent to Maryland to defend himself as court hearings on his detention and deportation have continued.
