Raising Kids Who Love to Learn
What Cognitive Science Can Teach Us About How Children Learn, Think & Thrive
Join Alexandria Classical Christian Academy for an evening with Dr. Daniel T. Willingham , cognitive scientist, author, and Professor of Psychology at the University of Virginia.
Drawing on decades of research, Dr. Willingham will share practical insights into how children learn and what parents can do to support strong readers, critical thinkers, and motivated learners.
The conversation will explore questions including the role of background knowledge in reading comprehension and critical thinking, how memory and practice support long-term learning, what truly motivates children, and how attention and technology shape learning today.
The evening will conclude with an audience Q&A and book signing . Copies of Dr. Willingham’s books, including Why Don’t Students Like School? , Outsmart Your Brain , and Raising Kids Who Read , will be available for purchase.
