About this event
Professor Sebastian Rand from Georgia State University will present his lecture, The Reproductive System: Hegel on Gestation, Socrates, Magic, and Raphael
In his Anthropology, Hegel says some odd-sounding things about the mother-fetus relation. But a closer examination reveals not only the logic of his claims, but the links they indicate among otherwise disparate-looking moments of his thought. The nature of those links is unclear, as is their relation to the explicit systematic structure of Hegel’s philosophy.
