About this event
For our November meeting, we will lightening the season's spooky atmosphere with several chapters from The Satires of Juvenal , a work of poems from Rome, 100 AD!
Juvenal's poems cover a wide range of topics, but mostly discuss the corruption of Roman society in his day. The poems we will be reading go into themes of social inequality and the difficulty for honest people to thrive, ideas which remain relevant today.
Feel free to bring any translation you prefer. I will update this post with recommendations at a later date.
As usual, we will meet in the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library in the 205-B Accessibility Room , located on the second floor. Ask at the Center for Accessibility front desk if you are looking for us. See you there!
Listed by Meetup: Washington, DC, gathered by the Bowie events calendar.
