6th annual CAN the Bird 5K Turkey Trot

About this event

Kick off Thanksgiving morning with the 6th Annual CAN the Bird 5K Turkey Trot , hosted by the Mount Vernon Springfield Chamber of Commerce and presented by Jefferson Funeral Chapel and Federal Realty!

Join runners, walkers, families and neighbors on Thursday, November 26, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. at Walmart Kingstowne in Alexandria, VA, for a fun Thanksgiving tradition. Approximately 800 people participated last year, and we're looking forward to another great turnout!

Whether you're an experienced runner, a casual walker or participating with your family, all ages and fitness levels are welcome. Registered participants receive a commemorative race T-shirt and promotional items from event sponsors.

Participants are encouraged to bring nonperishable food donations benefiting The Koinonia Foundation, which supports local individuals and families in need. Canned fruits, vegetables and low or reduced-sodium foods are especially appreciated.
