About this event
(Bloomingdale) Power Flow Level 2-3 @ 1830 1st St NW This is a fun, vigorous class for intermediate and advanced students. This class is sequenced to include challenging poses and transitions while focusing on maintaining a steady breath. The pace may vary, but generally expect to warm up quickly and move through poses that build strength, flexibility, and focus. While the flow is dynamic, it's designed to encourage mindfulness and provide opportunities for growth. Please bring your own mat or rent one of ours ($2 payable by venmo at the studio or by card in advance online), and please arrive at least five minutes before class time. Have fun! Here's what to expect in the beginning, middle and end of class: Classes usually start with a series of "grounding", stabilizing movements. This can help you reconnect your mind with your body, while connecting the pace of body movements to the breath. Then the class usually transitions to more warming, strengthening, engaging poses. Toward the end of class you may find poses that focus on flexibility and release. Class usually ends with a final relaxation in "savasana" pose, during which you can lay quietly in stillness to let go. This combination of practices can help you achieve what some refer to as the goal of yoga: awareness of interconnectivity and oneness, bringing about a compassionate way of being.
