About this event
Have we ever known the whole story about Mary Cassatt? For generations, she has been remembered primarily as the painter of mothers and children. Mary Morton, head of the National Gallery’s department of French paintings, argues in her new book that Cassatt was among the most daring, intellectually ambitious, and radically modern artists of her era. Published during the centennial year of Cassatt’s death and alongside a series of major international exhibitions celebrating her legacy, Cassatt Reconsidered is a new interpretation of one of the most celebrated yet misunderstood impressionist artists.
