On Wings of Song

Kyle Coughlin, Clarinet Kuei-I Wu, Piano Katy I-Hsuan Chiang, Cello

The clarinet’s smooth tone and wide dynamic range give it a unique ability to shape phrases with the flexibility and warmth of the human voice. Kyle Coughlin, Kuei-I Wu, and Katy Chiang will perform a program of lyrical works by Telemann, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Bruch, and others, including music originally written for voice, flute, and violin. Inspired by Mendelssohn’s On Wings of Song , this program invites listeners to be carried to distant places, imagined landscapes, and other points in time.
