About this event

(Dupont) All-Levels Yoga: Strength, Stretch + Form @ 1605 Connecticut Ave NW A slower-paced class that combines simple movement with time spent holding poses. This approach helps build strength, meditative awareness, and flexibility. It can also support better everyday movement like posture, balance, and stability. The pace is unhurried, with clear guidance and space to explore how each pose feels in your body. A welcoming class for beginners and anyone looking for a more thoughtful, steady practice. Please arrive at least five minutes before class. If you need support please text us at 202-265-9642. Why the same class type can feel different when taught by different teachers: It’s our mission to ensure yoga is accessible and meets your needs! Each Yoga District teacher has their own way of teaching yoga, so we recommend trying a variety of class types with a variety of teachers. With so many options, you're bound to find a teacher and class type that work for you! Here's what to expect in the beginning, middle and end of class: Classes usually start with a series of "grounding", stabilizing movements. This can help you reconnect your mind with your body, while connecting the pace of body movements to the breath. Then the class usually transitions to more warming, strengthening, engaging poses. Toward the end of class you may find poses that focus on flexibility and release. Class usually ends with a final relaxation in "savasana" pose, during which you can lay quietly in stillness to let go. This combination of practices can help you achieve what some refer to as the goal of yoga: awareness of interconnectivity and oneness, bringing about a compassionate way of being. By signing up for this class you are agreeing to our wellness policy: If you have any symptoms that could be COVID you agree to not join a studio-based class. If you are sneezing, sniffling, or coughing due to allergies you agree to wear a mask throughout your time in studio.
