- ➤ County leaders announced Monday a plan for a mini Sphere entertainment venue at National Harbor that could add over $1 billion in annual economic impact, create 5,000 permanent and 2,500 construction jobs, and support funding for education and childcare, pending final approvals and infrastructure improvements. - ➤ Maryland leaders announced plans with Sphere Entertainment and Peterson Companies to develop a 6,000-seat Sphere venue near National Harbor — a project projected to generate over $1 billion annually and create nearly 7,250 jobs despite residents’ traffic concerns. WJLA
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Over the weekend, the Maryland Transit Administration said the 16-mile, 21-station Purple Line is 87% complete, with testing and track work finished in Prince George’s County while officials expect the light rail to open in winter — Jan. 6. WJLA
