GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Prince George’s County Council has proposed a bill to give laid-off federal workers up to $1,000 to help pay for housing and utilities—with extra support planned—if it is included in the county budget set to pass by June 1 and start on July 1. The proposal does not cover federal contractors and comes as layoffs rise amid a $170 million budget gap. WTOP
- ➤ Prince George’s County Council changed its leadership when District 8 Council member Ed Burroughs became the youngest council chair after former Chair Jolene Ivey stepped aside due to health concerns.
