GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Bowie residents have seen tap water turn discolored from aging cast-iron pipes and many now rely on bottled water, while officials plan a $5 million pipelining project and hydrant flushing operations to clear sediment as the water continues to be safe under current standards. WJLA
- ➤ Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development announced Healthy Homes and Production Grant program on Tuesday, which will offer up to $18,000 per home for urgent health and safety repairs in eight counties — priority goes to families with kids 6 or under. WJLA
- ➤ On Tuesday, Prince George’s County Council introduced bills to cut red tape by forming a task force and reducing permitting fees to help residents open businesses. The measures also give local businesses a 5% advantage on county contracts and require 20% of construction contracts to go to local operators. WTOP
