- ➤ A 23-year-old Bowie resident, Dinari McAlmont, arrived with family on April 4 and was found unresponsive and pronounced dead at 5:30 a.m. on April 5 on Paradise Island after drowning—police said toxicology tests are pending and local officials are urging a full investigation. WJLA
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Maryland State Police arrested Andre Howard, 34, from Philadelphia for an alleged road rage shooting in Prince George's County on March 28 — his shot hit another vehicle without injuring anyone and he now faces felony assault and related charges. WJLA
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Lafiya Tunstall, a 23-year veteran science and biology teacher with the PGCPS Non-Traditional Program 9-12 South, was named Teacher of the Year at a ceremony held at the University of Maryland Tuesday—she is the first nontraditional teacher to earn the honor and also received a three-year car lease from Pohanka Automotive Group. - ➤ On Thursday the Supreme Court ordered the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia after he was deported in error—federal and Maryland officials urged the President to ensure his return with due process despite the administration noting his alleged ties to MS-13. Governor Moore and Senator Alsobrooks stressed that fairness and public safety require his homecoming, and the Justice Department supported the ruling as a proper check on the executive branch's authority.
