CRIME NEWS

  • Police in Prince George's County said a man was shot and killed outside a business on the 12000 block of Laurel Bowie Road around 9 p.m. last Thursday—authorities are looking for a suspect and ask anyone with information to come forward.  WJLA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, five of the 11 Prince George’s County Council seats are held by millennials after the swearing in of council member Shayla Adams-Stafford—council members say the new generation will lead with a focus on listening, consensus building, and addressing younger voters’ concerns. They believe this shift in leadership will bring a fresh and energetic approach to county governance.  WTOP
  • Due to recent storms, the Public Works Department relaxed yard waste rules until July 2—residents can leave small branches in trash cans or bundled at the curb on Wednesdays, while requests for larger branch pickups are accepted.  City of Bowie
  • Due to hotter temperatures, Bowie’s trash and recycling collection will begin at 6 a.m. on Monday, June 23 and remain in effect through the end of August—residents must place their bins at the curb before collection days.  City of Bowie
