Maryland resident Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who pleaded not guilty on charges including human smuggling, alleged MS-13 ties and gun smuggling, will stand trial in Tennessee before any ICE action occurs — his attorneys warned that without a transfer to Maryland, he may be deported to an unknown third country before his trial.

Shawn Joseph has been named interim head of Prince George’s County Public Schools and will lead a 100 day plan to improve local schools through monthly meetings in each board district and academic reviews.

He will work with families—union leaders and parent-teacher groups to drive needed changes ahead of the upcoming school year.

City offices and facilities will be closed on Friday, July 4 for Independence Day.

Trash and recycling collection will not occur on that day—collection will resume on the next regularly scheduled pickup day.
