The Board of Public Works approved over $4.7 million on Monday—funding upgrades and land conservation across nine counties, including Frederick and Prince George’s County.

In Bowie, $360,000 will fund improvements at a nine-acre site next to Huntington Park North with a nature trail and expanded playground equipment.

Prince George's County launched a pilot program in June that uses the Petco Love Lost AI tool to reunite lost pets with their families—volunteers distribute bilingual yard signs with a QR code while the Animal Services Facility partners with Best Friends Animal Society as one of 25 shelters chosen nationwide.

Prince George’s County Executive Aisha Braveboy announced on Monday that Katina Gomez will lead Homeland Security, Anthony Reese will head Emergency Management, and Vennard Wright will direct IT and cybersecurity.

All three county natives—vetted for local expertise—are set to boost public safety and digital security measures.
