CRIME NEWS

  • Police responded on July 9th after reports of juveniles breaking into cars at an apartment complex on the 2100 block of Crain Highway in Bowie; they stopped a stolen Hyundai Elantra and charged the 13-year-old & 14-year-old while the 12-year-old was not charged under Maryland law & officers continue to search for a fourth suspect.  WJLA

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown joined a multistate coalition to support a legal challenge against the Education Department's decision to end federal funding for school-based mental health programs. The group filed an amicus brief in U.S. District Court for New Mexico and argued that the funding cut—meant to support counselors and therapists—will leave vulnerable students without the necessary help.  WJLA
