Councilmember Oriadha proposed a resolution for a six-month study to explore county-run or partnered grocery stores in Prince George’s County, where the Central Avenue corridor has few full-service stores and residents in Seat Pleasant shop at convenience outlets (a small non-profit grocery trial closed after complaints of high prices and empty shelves).

The City of Bowie is offering a federally funded grant program to help eligible single family homeowners—such as seniors, teachers, first responders, veterans, and disabled residents—fix safety hazards, improve energy efficiency, and upgrade systems; the maximum grant is $10,000 and applications are accepted until August 29 for homes within city limits.
