- ➤ Six Flags America in Bowie canceled its annual Fright Fest for fall after it announced a November closure, and the park will run Kids Boo Fest on weekends from Sept. 13th through Nov. 2nd for family-friendly Halloween rides—passholders were offered tickets to visit Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey. - ➤ Prince George’s Councilmember Calvin Hawkins II hired former councilmember Mel Franklin as his chief of staff after Franklin was released from prison, and Franklin assumed the role on July 14 with a salary of $72,000. Franklin had served a one-year sentence for stealing campaign funds and perjury before earning a second chance in county government. WTOP
