Six Flags America in Bowie canceled its annual Fright Fest for fall after it announced a November closure, and the park will run Kids Boo Fest on weekends from Sept.

Prince George’s Councilmember Calvin Hawkins II hired former councilmember Mel Franklin as his chief of staff after Franklin was released from prison, and Franklin assumed the role on July 14 with a salary of $72,000.
Franklin had served a one-year sentence for stealing campaign funds and perjury before earning a second chance in county government.
