Bowie State alumnus Tico Wells is screening his new documentary, 'First Generation College Bound: 33 Years and Counting,' which follows Joe Fisher's nonprofit helping first-generation college students; the film, shot on his phone with a shoestring budget, has been shown at local film festivals and at Laurel High.

Bowie State University student Milan Love excels in Early Childhood and Special Education while playing trombone in the Symphony of Soul Marching Band.

She draws on family experiences and faculty mentorship (especially from Dr. Charles-Strowbridge) to guide her future in education and music.

Maryland students showed modest progress in math on the state test with statewide proficiency increasing by 0.6 percentage points while Montgomery County students outperformed and Prince George’s County lagged behind.
