  • The StoreHouse food bank in Prince George’s County saw a large turnout at its Back2School Bash at G. James Gholson Middle School—where 500 backpacks were given out—and it has now partnered with local leaders to run a biweekly food drive at Thurgood Marshall Middle School in Camp Springs that started July 12 and will run for a year.  WTOP

CRIME NEWS

  • Lawyers for Abrego Garcia asked a federal judge on Tuesday to dismiss a human smuggling case against the Maryland construction worker, saying the government pursued him out of vindictiveness for challenging his removal to El Salvador—charges that stemmed from a 2022 traffic stop with nine passengers—while prosecutors offered no further comment.  WTOP
  • Prince George's County Police ask residents for help to identify a truck (blue Ford F150) involved in a fatal hit-and-run that killed a man aged 45 on August 15 at about 8 p.m. in Capitol Heights while he rode his electric bicycle.  WJLA
