A Bowie man, Herber Keith Mason Jr. (58) was charged with second-degree murder after fatally shooting Benjamin Francis (59) of Lanham on Sunday evening near Rockport Lane in unincorporated Bowie, with investigators stating the two men knew each other and had an argument that turned violent.

Hugo Hernandez-Mendez, 35, was held without bond at his first court appearance in Prince George’s County after being charged with murdering 19-year-old Da’Cara Thompson—who was driven to his Bowie home on Aug.

22 and later found near Route 50—while investigators work to piece together her final hours.
