- ➤ Bowie will host a series of events this October starting with the Old Bowie Celebrates! Festival on October 4 and continuing with family-friendly programs. The schedule includes the return of the Wiggle & Giggle Program and Scary Stories by the Campfire on October 18 — a Building Community Artists Reception on October 23 and Halloween events on October 24 and 25. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ A 124-feet long mural called 'Streets of Solidarity' was painted this summer in Colmar Manor at a site where 50 people once died to send a strong message against gun violence. Community artist Brandon Bell and more than 55 locals — including the mayor — used grant funds from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development to transform the historic area into a symbol of hope.
