The Maryland MVA reminded drivers that new laws took effect on October 1 to boost road safety — the changes include tougher penalties for impaired and commercial drivers, updated driver education, and license revocation for serious crashes.
The Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration now offers an optional butterfly symbol on driver's licenses and ID cards—helping first responders spot hidden disabilities.
The update, part of House Bill 707 and Senate Bill 618, is free and can be changed online or at MVA kiosks.
