EDUCATION NEWS

  • Aarit Koul, a ninth grader from Jackson Township, Ohio, won the 2025 National Civics Bee on Tuesday at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce by besting 38 state champions—he focused his presentation on improving health care access. Katia San Juan from Bowie, Maryland, was among the finalists and shared her ideas on addressing insulin shortages for Type 1 diabetes.  WTOP

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Ten municipalities in Prince George’s County have begun or plan to use stop sign cameras to improve pedestrian safety. Berwyn Heights reported up to 80% fewer violations after its cameras were activated, and a trial in Bowie last year found 85% of cars did not come to a full stop, with $40 ticket funds earmarked for safety projects & crosswalk upgrades.  WTOP
