- ➤ In November, Bowie State held its Annual Race for Service as volunteers packed over 300 lunch bags for DC Central Union Mission. Coordinated by the Office of Multicultural Programs & Civic Engagement, the event builds a campus culture of service and sets the stage for future volunteer projects. Bowie State University
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Military Times named Bowie State University (BSU) to its 2025 Best for Vets list, ranking the school fourth in Maryland and tenth in the Mid-Atlantic. The university’s Military Resource Center helps service members with admissions, financial planning, academic support, and career networking. Bowie State University
- ➤ Bowie State students displayed their creative talent on BET's 3rd Annual HBCU Honors, which aired Nov. 30. The event showcased work from departments like Visual Communication & Digital Media, Theatre Arts and Fashion Design, giving students vital hands-on experience in media production. - ➤ Professor Gina Lewis at Bowie State University teaches students to use art + interdisciplinary thinking as a platform for community change. Now on sabbatical, she leads research with the National Park Service and an organic gardening project that links heritage to social empowerment. Bowie State University
- ➤ Runor Agarin, a senior Business Administration major at Bowie State University, has built leadership through academic, athletic, and campus roles including serving as student CEO at Saxby’s & active involvement in clubs while planning to open an athletic training facility that nurtures mind, body & spirit after graduation. - ➤ Fall Wellness Day brought students, faculty and staff together at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center (Nov. 14) for sound therapy, yoga, art therapy and games that supported mental health and community connection during a busy semester. Bowie State University
