Jevon Hamilton, a former Bowie State football player, left the team to focus on academics; he will graduate with a BS in Biology in December and plans to attend pharmacy school researching new drug compounds (a key conversation with a faculty mentor inspired this shift).

Nasir Williams, a Bowie State University communications major and PRSSA president, graduates this winter and will join CarMax’s Sales Manager Program.

He built two businesses and credits his education and campus support for driving his success.

Yassine Kamara, a track and field athlete at Bowie State, will graduate this winter with a BS in Health Services Administration and begin an MBA program at Charleston Southern University on a full-track scholarship plus continue her athletic career while advancing her studies.

Ingrid Portillo earns her BSN from Bowie State University (BSU) and will soon join Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center as a registered nurse.

The first-generation student from Columbia credits BSU’s community for her growth and plans to help low-income communities.

Laila Gwathmey, a Bowie State University Bachelor of Science in Psychology graduate, will work as a registered behavioral technician (RBT) at Above Par ABA Services.

She credits her early passion for helping children and her campus experiences for inspiring her future in pediatric neuropsychology.

Kiara Moore, a first-generation college student, will graduate this winter with a B.S. in Communications from Bowie State (where she honed her journalism skills through an internship with Disney’s The View).

She plans to pursue broadcast roles and a master’s in journalism while awaiting grad school responses.
