GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Acting County Executive Tara Jackson released a fiscal 2026 budget proposal that makes the general fund $4.78 billion—a little more than a 4% rise from last year—and spends over 80% on schools and public safety. She said uncertainty at state and federal levels may force changes to the plan, including switching phone fees to a flat tax designed to add $37 million and delaying a new tax credit for seniors.
